Contra Costa is about to be the place I live. I live now in Alameda. These two counties make up the inner East Bay part of the San Francisco Bay Area in northern California.
Everything I have worked on and worked for on this or that national or international stage is in play in this place. I am referring to the nature and purpose of higher learning, and increasing the quality of and access to higher learning. As an endless number of reports from both public and private sectors now relentlessly assert: higher learning is no longer only a matter of personal achievement, economic benefit, and quality of life; it is a matter of economic survival and quality of life for communities, states, and the nation.
But what does this mean when it comes to actually improving learning outcomes for students at Richmond High School in the West Contra Costa Unified School District, and what can I do to make it happen?
That is what I need to know and do now.
